Festival Bursary Application

Applications are due November 30, 2024

Purpose

The purpose of the OGEHR Festival Bursary Fund is to provide assistance to certain members of The Ontario Guild to enable them to attend an OGEHR Festival.

Value

At the discretion of the Bursary and Scholarship Committee, bursaries will be awarded up to the full program fee, meals and accommodation for up to three nights. The successful candidates will be responsible for their own transportation and incidental expenses.

Criteria

      1. Each candidate must be a member of OGEHR, either through his/her choir, or as an Individual member.
      2. Each candidate must be in a position to attend the Festival if awarded the bursary.
      3. Candidates should have participated in 80% of all Bell Choir practices and related events from the September preceding the Festival.
      4. Bursaries will be awarded to an individual only one time.
      5. Candidates may not be members of the Guild Board of Directors, nor related to the members of the Bursary and Scholarship Committee which reviews their application.

Process

      1. A director submits an application for a bursary for the (year) Festival, either on behalf of a member of his/her bell choir or on his/her own behalf, to the current Bursary and Scholarship Committee Chair (OGEHR Treasurer).
      2. Each candidate’s application should indicate how he/she may not have the opportunity to participate in the Festival without this assistance.
      3. The deadline for submitting applications is November 30th of the year preceding the Festival. Applications received after this date will not be considered.
      4. The Board appointed Bursary and Scholarship Committee will review all applications and make recommendations to the January meeting of the Board in the Festival year.
      5. The Board will approve the Committee recommendations and inform all candidates and their directors of the final outcome of their applications, one month before final payment of Festival registration fees is due.
      6. All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence. The only public announcement shall be with respect to the number and total value of the bursaries awarded.
      7. The Festival Registrar will advise the successful candidates of the balance, if any, owing. Unsuccessful candidates will have the opportunity to pay the full fee or withdraw their registration for the Festival.

Application

There are two forms for the application. The first form is filled out by the applicant and the second is filled out by the group's director in support of the applicant.

All submissions are kept private between the applicant, the director, and the OGEHR Bursary and Scholarship Committee.
